Crossing the Bar. Text by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. For high voice and piano.  A meditative opening gives way to sweeping ocean waves, as Tennyson's profound words contemplate death in the allegory of the sea.  Range: low D - high B-flat. 4 pages.
I wrote this song for my friend Robin Clifford, a soprano.
Her grandmother loved this poem, and Robin sang it at her funeral in 2019.
